How do I get started?

How do I load an Eloflex in the car the easiest way?

Can I bring an Eloflex on the flight?
Yes, Eloflex electric wheelchairs fulfill all the requirements of the IATA to be included in the flight. Read more in the text on the right (further down on mobiles).
How long is the warranty on Eloflex?
There is a two-year warranty on all Eloflex electric wheelchairs. Keep in mind that the warranty only applies to the original buyer.
Questions about the batteries in Eloflex
What kind of batteries are in the Eloflex?
There are two leak-free Lithium-Ion batteries in Eloflex. These are 240Wh (24 volts / 10 amp)
How often can I charge Eloflex?
You can charge as often as you like. The battery cannot be overcharged and the charger goes into power saving mode when the battery is fully charged.
How often should I charge it?
Charge as soon as the battery charge level has dropped to one third (three lights are on). If you want to charge more often it’s fine, the battery does not take damage from it.
How long does it take to charge the battery?
Charging an empty battery takes about 3 hours.
Can I charge the batteries when it’s cold?
Yes, you can charge the battery down to minus 10 degrees Co. If you charge at a colder temperature than 10 minus, it is still possible to charge but the batteries will not be fully charged.
Is the range affected if it is cold outside?
Yes, if you use your Eloflex in minus degrees the range can be affected. At minus 10 degrees the mileage can be reduced by up to 50%.
How do I remove the batteries?
Click here for pictures and information on how to remove the batteries at Eloflex. To replace the batteries, follow the instructions in reverse order. Note, note how the cables are located before you disconnect the batteries (preferably take a photo with your mobile phone), so that you can replace the cables in the same way when the batteries are reassembled.
Questions about charging
Start by turning off your Eloflex (all lamps at the joystick should be off). Use only Eloflex original chargers.
Plug the charger into the socket on the front of the joystick. Be sure that the position of the contacts matches. Then plug the charger power cord into a socket.
Charging is indicated by a lamp on the charger. Red lamp means charging is in progress. After about three hours, the batteries are charged to 90 percent. The chair can now be used again.
After about 5-8 hours the lamp on the charger turns green and the batteries are fully charged. During charging, the charger itself becomes warm, and this is perfectly normal.
For maximum battery life, charging should take about five hours when the stack of the battery indicator at the joystick goes down to one-third (when three of the lights are green). The batteries do not damage the maintenance charge, but for maximum life we recommend that you disconnect the charger when the batteries are fully charged.
You can charge the battery down to minus 10 degrees. If you charge at a colder number than 10 minus, it is still possible to charge but the batteries will not be fully charged.
How far can I drive?
A fully charged Eloflex can run at least 30 km or about 5 hours of efficient driving.
At very cold temperatures (minus degrees) the mileage can be affected and be shorter than normal.
Is it difficult to fold an Eloflex?
No, it’s very simple. You can fold an Eloflex easily in 5 seconds.
Is Eloflex tested and approved?

The footplate does not stop in the upright position. What do I do?
If you have problems with the footplate of your Eloflex not stopping in the upright position, you can easily adjust it yourself. Follow the instructions by clicking here.
I find it difficult to open and close the lock. What do I do?
If you think it is too difficult to close and open the locking hook on your Eloflex when you fold it together, you can easily adjust this on your own. Follow the instructions by clicking here.
Can I adjust the backrest on Eloflex?
Yes, on the L models you can adjust the backrest using Velcro straps.
Can I wash the seating pad?
Yes, the cover for the cushion is removable and can be washed.
Can I wash Eloflex with high pressure?
No, you should not flush water on an electric wheelchair. Only wipe it off with a damp cloth if it gets dirty.
How do I insure my Eloflex?
It is important that you insure your Eloflex. Contact your insurance company to explore the options to supplement your home insurance or take out a separate insurance for your electric wheelchair. Different insurance companies have different offers to their customers and we always recommend our users to contact their insurance company to hear what opportunities there are. Which air pressure is recommended?
We recommend 2.5 kg of air pressure in your rear wheels on Eloflex Plus models.
Can I buy reflectors, lamps/lights, stick and or crutch holders?
Yes, but not with Eloflex. For these types of accessories, we refer to bike shops that usually have many neat solutions for this. Just remember that the possibility of folding up your Eloflex can be affected by the fact that you mount things on the chair and its frame.
What accessories can I buy for Eloflex?
The most common accessories for Eloflex folding electric wheelchairs are head rest, care control (which means that the person walking behind or behind can handle the joystick) and bag. If you are taking your Eloflex on a flight:
Are you going to take your Eloflex on a flight? Then we recommend that you read through the information below. Here we describe the procedure, the regulations and our own experiences in order to make it a little easier for you to fly with Eloflex.
NOTE! Always check with the airline if you are allowed to bring your Eloflex BEFORE you book your airline tickets. Make sure to request a written confirmation via email. If the airline has chosen not to comply with the international guidelines of IATA and therefore refuse to bring your assistance on the trip, we recommend that you book your trip with another airline.
1. GENERAL
International regulations stipulate that battery-powered wheelchairs, or other similar means, used by passengers whose mobility is restricted may be carried on flights that have checked baggage.
The vast majority of airlines make use of, and adhere to, the international rules of IATA, which you can read more about below. However, it may be appropriate to mention that each airline is free to interpret the regulations as they wish, or to have their own rules. Ultimately, it is the pilot who decides. It is therefore important that you check with the specific airline about what applies before booking your air ticket.
2. HOW TO DO IT
When booking your trip it is important that you indicate that you want to bring an electric wheelchair on the flight. You will then receive a number of follow-up questions from the airline that you must answer. This applies to things like the weight and size of the electric wheelchair, the type of batteries it has and the weight and effect on these. You can find answers to these questions by clicking here.
Once at the airport you go to the usual check-in desk. They will contact the airport assistance service, which comes with a manual wheelchair that you can use at the airport. After check-in, you take your Eloflex to the special luggage drop-off where they receive the electric wheelchair for further transport to the plane. 3. WHAT THE RULES ARE
The vast majority of airlines use the international rules of IATA (Dangerous Goods Regulations) regarding restrictions on the transport of electric wheelchairs on aircraft.
In order for an electric wheelchair to be included on an aircraft at all, its batteries must be air-approved. This means that they must have passed an international test called UN38.3. All batteries in Eloflex electric wheelchairs are air-approved according to this standard (Eloflex is equipped with batteries of the type Lithium – leak-proof dry batteries without liquid). There is a limit to how much power the batteries can have to take them on an airplane. According to IATA rules (2.3.2.4), a battery of max 300 Wh and a spare battery of max 300 Wh may be included. The batteries in Eloflex electric wheelchairs are 240 Wh per piece.
The IATA regulations state that you must remove both batteries from your Eloflex before checking in. The batteries must be taken into the cabin as hand luggage. When removing the batteries, the rules state that the contacts of the batteries must be protected against short circuits. You can do this most easily by covering the contacts on each battery with a tape (e.g. duct tape). The batteries must also be stored in plastic bags. We recommend ziplock bags. 4. THIS IS OUR EXPERIENCE
Hundreds of Eloflex users have been flying to destinations all over the world over the past few years and many are in touch with us to share their experiences. Most everyone testify to the same thing, namely that there was no problem whatsoever to bring their Eloflex on the flight. The most common (99 cases out of 100) is that you check in the wheelchair exactly as it is, without having to do anything at all.
Note, however, that airlines are increasingly demanding that the batteries are detached from the chair and brought into the cabin as hand luggage. The contacts of the batteries should be covered with tape and the batteries should be stored in separate plastic bags. Therefore, it may be wise to make sure you know how to remove the batteries before heading out so that you know how to do it. Once at the check-in counter, this can otherwise easily be perceived as a tad stressful.
Some users have chosen to leave a battery at home and only bring one battery on the trip. This is okay as your Eloflex works just as well with just one battery. However, keep in mind that the mileage is reduced by half so you need to charge a little more often than you usually do.
